What a match looks like
The map is a grid of pixels and every pixel is territory, which makes pixelwar a pixel territory war. Every player starts with a small patch of land on a shared map. Unclaimed land is cheaper to take than an enemy border. Land gives you troop income and raises your troop capacity, and the troops you keep in reserve earn interest, so every attack is a choice between growing now and staying strong.
Push into a neighbour with a share of your reserve, cross the sea by boat, and decide when to fight and when to hold a border. There is no fixed time limit: a match ends when no enemy side remains, or when a peace vote gives victory to the leading side or calls a draw.
Ways to play
- Multiplayer: free-for-all and team matches.
- Alliances: inside a match, allies share the victory, cannot attack each other and can donate troops.
- Single player: practise against bots, with a guided tutorial that teaches the controls.
Five maps, five different games
Play across Earth on World, a mostly connected continent on Europe, a fantasy pair of continents on Thronelands, a flooded planet on Mars with Water and a spiral galaxy on Milky Way, where there are no boats and every fight runs along the arms. The map guide shows each one.
Clans, ranks and badges
Join a clan for clan chat, a party queue into multiplayer and the clan leaderboard. Multiplayer wins earn points across 55 personal ranks, from Recruit to Pixel Legend, and a loss never takes points away. Badges mark what you have achieved.
Free to play online, no download
pixelwar costs nothing and needs no download. It runs in any modern browser with mouse or touch controls. On a phone it plays in the browser too, with no app store needed, and you can add it to your home screen like an app. Guests play straight away; signing in keeps your rank, badges and training progress across devices.
