The Milky Way map
An original map in the shape of our own galaxy: a barred spiral whose arms are the only land. Everything else is space, and no boat can cross space — so every fight runs along the arms. Conquer the galaxy online: free in the browser, with no download.

The geography
The shape follows the published structure of the Milky Way: a central bar inside a boxy bulge, two major arms leaving the ends of the bar — Scutum–Centaurus and Perseus — two minor arms branching off them — Sagittarius and Norma — and the short Orion Spur, the arm our own Sun sits in. About a quarter of the map is land, all of it one connected spiral, and the arms are roughly 50 to 100 cells wide.
How a match plays
Without boats, the only way to reach another player is along an arm. The arms meet only at the centre and where a minor arm forks off a major one, so those junctions decide who can reach whom. In a small match a territory meets its neighbours end to end along an arm; in a crowded one, several players share an arm side by side.
Tips for the Milky Way
- Read your position. A start near the tip of an arm has one front; a start at a junction has several.
- Hold your stretch of arm. Nothing can land from space behind you, so your fronts are exactly where the arm continues.
- Watch the centre. The bar joins the major arms, so whoever holds it can reach the most players.
- Help from behind the line. If allies wall you in, donate troops to the ones still fighting — the strategy guide explains the donation tax.
Other maps
- Europe — mostly connected land, with the great rivers as water.
- World — Earth's continents, where boats decide who reaches the next one.
- Mars with Water — one vast landmass beside a northern ocean.
- Thronelands — two fantasy continents across a narrow sea.
